DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
This position is for a system engineer who will support a software development program focused on workflow automation as related to processing of individual records. The system engineer will be part of the technical team that evaluates proposed vendor solutions and reviews and validates Contract deliverables to ensure compliance with Government requirements and compatibility with industry practices. As such, experience with conducting life-cycle engineering assessments in a software development context is desired. Exposure to business process re-engineering and workflow design and automation are also desired.
The job expectation is limited to oversight of Contractor activities. The system engineer will play a critical role in actively managing systems engineering oversight activities. As such, the candidate needs to have experience with configuration management and control and risk management. Requirements management, particularly with a focus on security, as well as system performance management and assessment experience is a plus. Prior exposure to data intensive, workflow automation systems is also a plus.
Solution evaluation includes the development of written and verbal recommendations to include technical reports as well as the review of contractual documentation such as for example system and subsystem design specifications. Effective interaction with a variety of stakeholders including Government and Contractor representatives is key to success. Excellent written and oral communications skills and solid critical thinking is required. Timeliness, attention to detail and high work ethic are required, as is the ability to multi-task as part of a high paced environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research or Mathematics with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience. Expert command of systems engineering management practices, particularly as applied to solution design and implementation as part of software development projects. Experience with business process design and/or workflow automation. Excellent technical writing and communications skills. Previous exposure to software development projects in a Government environment is highly desired.
US Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (Public Trust).
