Position Summary:

Oversee operations of the 580 site 2GEO repeater network in US and Canada and the growing network of Spot repeaters, including management of National Repeater Control Center (NRCC) and maintenance contractors. Implementation of tools and processes needed to maintain highest repeater uptime possible. Requires definition and implementation of an M&C system which can address the needs of the growing spot repeater network during all phases of its evolution: a few hundred echo/spot repeaters in the near term to thousands of transmitters co-located at wireless carrier sites over the long term.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of repeater network, including problem resolution and trending, dispatch of repair technicians, and coordination with repeater sites for maintenance activities.

  • Manage NRCC personnel, contractors, and vendors.

  • Communicate with Customer Care and senior management regarding repeater status, especially of customer-impacting events.

  • Coordinate with Repeater Engineering as needed to diagnose/address recurring problems and implement changes across the network and/or at individual sites.

  • Work with Advanced Systems Group and Repeater Engineering to insure operational needs are included at the design stage of each variation of the spot repeater.

  • Define (and then implement) operational strategy, tools, and processes needed to operate the envisioned spot repeater network.

  • Provide administrative and budget support to senior management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage NRCC personnel, contractors, and vendors.

  • Define tools and processes needed to manage repeater networks effectively and efficiently.

  • Support preparation of department opex budgets and project-based capex requirements.

  • Manage operations and projects within budget and with on-time delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in RF engineering or operations management or equivalent, relevant experience.

  • 10 years of experience managing a technical operations center.

  • Sound understanding of terrestrial repeater network design and operations.

Requirements and General Skills:

  • Ability to anticipate and prevent (as much as possible) operational issues, and to direct an effective response when issues inevitably occur.

  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.

  • Ability to effectively manage contracts and multi-task to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.

  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of ServiceNow or other automated trouble ticket system.

  • Knowledge of NetCool, MoogSoft, or similar network management tool.

  • Familiarity with Solarwinds and other IP network management tools a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
